This work started as a depiction of a typical glowing sunset in north Arkansas's Norfork Lake area. Before finishing it, the fires of California began. I could not refrain from conveying the tension and the pain in this piece, which turned from the serene sunset into an anxiety charged picture of voracious flames engulfing the Earth and the sky alike.
