Boy on the Skateboard

Sometimes a concept can not be entirely expressed by a single, specific structure, but rather by a series of images, and this is when a video work is born. These short video clips may have a story line with a beginning, climax and end; conversely, they may be just a progression of connected images – like painting with moving fragments of life. These sensory stimuli activate gateways to memories and emotions that oftentimes dwell within the subconscious. One of these short movies shows a boy cruising on a skateboard through a cemetery, interrupted by liminal snapshots of gray, dirty country roads. The inner child helps us navigate through the valley of the dead, undeterred by either the desolate side tracks or the treacherous, beautiful surroundings.
